History
Young Horizons School was founded by Mr Shourabh Mukerji in the year 1972 with the revered blessings of Mother Teresa and Rev. Father Bruylants S.J. The school began in Central Kolkata with the primary objective of serving children from different sections of society. On 8th March, 2002, a new school building was inaugurated at 220, Barakhola, E.M. Bypass, Kolkata – 99 by the then Governor of West Bengal Shri Viren J. Shah.
Young Horizons School is a private English medium co-educational school situated in the prime location of south Kolkata.
The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The first batch of students for the ICSE Examination appeared in 1998 and for the ISC Examination in 2015.
YHS has hosted several eminent personalities including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Mrs. Salma Ansari - wife of former Vice President Mr. Hamid Ansari, Mr K.N. Tripathi – former Governor of West Bengal, the Dean of Westminster, Dr. James M. Lyngdoh – former Chief Election Commissioner and Shri Shyamal Datta – former Governor of Nagaland.
